MedFuture

MedFuture is a pre-med pathway program offered jointly by Texas Tech Health El Paso and The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). It supports high school seniors from the greater El Paso region who plan to attend UTEP and are committed to pursuing medicine and serving the Southwest.

MedFuture Scholars receive structured mentorship, advising and hands-on experiences throughout their undergraduate education. Students who complete all program requirements are eligible for guaranteed admission to the Foster School of Medicine.

Program Opportunities

• Specialized pre-health advising and mentorship
• Monthly meetings with a UTEP pre-med mentor
• Priority registration each semester
• Visits to the Foster School of Medicine each semester
• Professional development activities and workshops at UTEP and the Foster School of Medicine
• A paid research internship after the first year at UTEP
• A health care immersion internship after the second year
• Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) preparation

Eligibility

Applicants should:

• Be a senior in high school
• Apply to UTEP and meet all UTEP enrollment requirements
• Earn an SAT or ACT score above the Texas state average
• Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident

Application Period

The application portal opens annually on Aug. 1 and closes at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on Dec. 4.
