Outreach Programs
The Foster School of Medicine offers outreach programs for students and community members interested in medical education and health careers. These programs help participants learn about medicine, serve the local community, and prepare for future academic opportunities.
Program availability, eligibility, and application requirements may vary by year. Review each program’s current information before applying or requesting participation.
Admissions Outreach Programs
MedFuture
MedFuture, offered in partnership with the University of Texas at El Paso, mentors local high school students planning to attend UTEP who have a strong interest in medicine — including MCAT preparation and a guaranteed medical school interview for students who complete the program.
Medventure for Your Future
Medventure for Your Future is an annual event held each January on the Texas Tech Health El Paso campus, bringing middle school students and their families together for hands-on health science workshops and clinical simulation tours.
Summer Medical Camp
The Summer Medical Camp offers two two-week sessions each summer for current and rising high school students, with field trips, guest speakers from medical professions, and college-preparation workshops.
Summer Med Camp Mentor
High school and college students may apply to mentor Summer Medical Camp participants, assisting with workshops and guiding campers throughout each session.
Admissions Ambassadors
Foster School of Medicine admissions ambassadors are current medical students who serve as a liaison between the school and prospective students exploring careers in medicine, sharing their own experiences with the admissions process.
