The Office of Research serves as the primary resource and catalyst for advancing research at Texas Tech Health El Paso. We provide leadership, direction, and management of research administration, infrastructure, and services while supporting faculty, students, and staff in pursuing innovative discoveries that improve health and advance scientific knowledge. Our mission is to foster new research initiatives, promote excellence in research, and provide high-quality support throughout the research lifecycle.
Our Role
Research Administration & Infrastructure
Providing leadership and oversight of research operations, facilities, and institutional research resources.
Research Compliance & Regulatory Support
Ensuring ethical conduct, regulatory compliance, investigator training, and oversight through institutional research committees.
Sponsored Programs & Grant Administration
Supporting investigators in identifying funding opportunities, preparing competitive proposals, and managing sponsored awards.
Research Committees & Oversight
Coordinating Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Conflict of Interest in Research Committee (COIRC), and other research oversight activities.
Research Services & Centers of Emphasis
Supporting specialized research programs, institutional research services, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen the research enterprise.

Supporting Researchers
The Sponsored Programs (SP) Office provides essential grant support services, including:
- Funding opportunity identification and proposal development
- Budget preparation and application submission
- Institutional approvals and regulatory compliance
- Award negotiation, acceptance, and post-award administration
- Guidance, training, and resources to support successful research funding and project management
