U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program
The Army HPSP supports eligible students entering or attending accredited medical, dental and other qualifying health professions programs. General eligibility
- Be a U.S. citizen by the time of commissioning.
- Qualify for appointment as a commissioned Army officer.
- Be accepted to, or enrolled in, an accredited qualifying professional program.
- Meet the academic, medical and administrative requirements for the selected specialty.
Service commitment
Participants commission as officers and incur an active-duty service obligation after completing their professional education and required training. The exact obligation depends on the scholarship and specialty; applicants should confirm the current terms with an Army medical recruiter.

U.S. Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program
The Air Force HPSP provides scholarships for selected medical, dental, nursing and allied health professions. Current Air Force information states that awards may cover tuition, required fees, textbooks, small equipment and supplies, along with a monthly living allowance.
Scholarship length
- One- and two-year scholarships may be available for selected allied health specialties.
- Two- and three-year scholarships may be available for selected Nurse Corps specialties.
- Three- and four-year scholarships may be available for Medical Corps and Dental Corps applicants.
Service commitment
Air Force HPSP participants complete active-duty training while in school and generally serve one year of active duty for each scholarship year, subject to a minimum commitment.
