About the M.D./M.B.A. Option
The Foster School of Medicine and Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business offer an M.D./M.B.A. dual-degree option for medical students who want to combine clinical training with business and health care management education. Students complete the Health Organization Management concentration and earn separate M.D. and M.B.A. degrees after meeting the requirements of both institutions.

Program Overview
Degree Format
Students earn both degrees within the four-year medical school curriculum. The M.B.A. component includes 42 credit hours completed through Rawls College over approximately 18 months.
Health Organization Management
The M.B.A. includes a four-course Health Organization Management concentration focused on the organizational and business context in which health care is delivered.
Course Sequence
Rawls coursework begins in the summer and includes courses during the summers before and after the first year of medical school, followed by online coursework completed by December of the second year.
Application Information
- Apply separately to the Foster School of Medicine and Rawls College of Business.
- Receive admission from both institutions before enrolling in the dual-degree program.
- Enter the M.B.A. program during the Summer I semester.
