Application Process
How to Apply
All applicants must submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Applications received via email, mail, or fax will not be considered and will be discarded.
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following through ERAS:
- USMLE Transcript (Step 1 must be completed before applying).
- Three Letters of Recommendation
- Applicants with previous U.S. residency training must include a Program Director letter as a fourth letter of recommendation.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) in chronological order.
- Personal Statement.
Additional Requirements for International Medical Graduates (IMGs):
IMG applicants must also provide:
- Medical School Transcript
- Notarized copy in the original language and a certified translation.
- Dean's Letter
- Copy of the original letter in the original language and a certified translation.
- Medical School Diploma
- Notarized copy in the original language and a certified English translation.
- For graduates of medical schools in Mexico, submit front and back copies of the diploma, including the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) stamp.
- Current ECFMG Certificate valid for the appointment year.
- Clinical Rotation Affidavit
- Required if clinical rotations were completed at an LCME-accredited medical school.
- Proof of Valid Immigration Status
- Must be current for the appointment year.
- License to Practice Medicine
- Copy of your medical license from your home country (translated into English if applicable).
Visa Sponsorship
Texas Tech Health El Paso sponsors J-1 visas only for eligible international applicants.
Interview Process
Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by email or phone to schedule their interview.
Additional Information
- COMLEX is accepted in lieu of USMLE for eligible osteopathic applicants.
- There is no minimum USMLE Step 1 score required; applications are reviewed holistically. USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 performance remain important components of the evaluation.
- The program accepts 4 residents per year.
