Training and Educational Center for Healthcare Simulation
The Training and Educational Center for Healthcare Simulation (TECHS) at Texas Tech Health El Paso is where our students become the future generation of health care leaders. TECHS has over 24,000 square feet of simulation laboratory space to provide experiential learning through task training, high-fidelity simulation experiences, virtual reality simulators and standardized patient experiences. TECHS is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and committed to using the best practices in education to help our students develop safe and compassionate patient care.
Mission
To provide collaborative interprofessional training to the Texas Tech Health El Paso campus and community using best practices in education and advanced technology for students and health care providers to improve the quality of health care delivered and promote safe patient care practices.

Improve the quality of interprofessional learning, teaching, research, and delivery of health care through innovative, simulation-based education to enhance the quality and outcomes of patient care in the El Paso community and beyond.

Located on the Texas Tech Health El Paso campus, TECHS offers students hands-on training in real-world healthcare scenarios using high-fidelity manikins, virtual reality, and standardized patients.
Spanning more than 24,000 square feet across two sites—TECHS North in the HSON Building and TECHS South in the Medical Education Building—TECHS helps future healthcare professionals build confidence and clinical skills in a safe, supportive environment.
About TECHS
Established in 2019, TECHS brings together resources from the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing simulation program, the Center for Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation (ATACS), and the Regional Simulation and Training Center.
TECHS is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare—a distinction first earned in 2012 under the leadership of Hoi Ho, M.D., and expanded in 2017 under Sanja Kupesic, M.D., Ph.D. Today, TECHS remains a leader in simulation-based learning, with recognition in Assessment, Research, and Teaching/Education.
