Estimated Costs
Cost of attendance is used to determine financial aid eligibility and may include estimated educational and living expenses. Actual charges and personal expenses may differ. Review the current official tuition and fee estimate before making financial decisions.
Federal Student Loans
Eligible dental students may qualify for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. Loan amounts are based on federal requirements, prior borrowing and the student’s financial aid eligibility.
Financial Aid Disbursement Dates: 2026–2027
Disbursement is the date financial aid is scheduled to begin applying to eligible student accounts. It is not necessarily the date a student will receive a refund.

Before Aid Can Be Disbursed
- Complete all financial aid requirements and resolve account holds.
- Meet satisfactory academic progress requirements.
- Be enrolled at least half-time to receive federal student loans.
- Review your enrollment carefully. A reduction in enrolled hours may change your aid and may create a balance due.
Student Business Services processes eligible refunds after aid has posted and institutional charges have been paid. Review your student account in WebRaider for the current status.
Federal Student Loan Requirements
First-time federal Direct Loan borrowers must complete entrance counseling and a Master Promissory Note. Complete only the requirements shown in your financial aid record.
Manage Your Financial Aid
Use WebRaider to review requested documents, accept or decline awards, check account requirements and monitor your financial aid status.
Make a Budget
Using the cost of attendance as a budget can give you a rough estimate of the maximum you can safely spend on living expenses for the upcoming year. Budgeting with financial aid, as opposed to a typical work income, is a unique situation; the cost of attendance can help you estimate how much financial aid you will need for the year.
Financial aid is disbursed in two increments throughout the academic aid year, and loan periods vary across the four years of attendance at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine. Budgeting carefully can help your financial aid last the full 12 months, and it’s worth saving toward the transition after graduation, since residency pay may not begin right away.
