Find answers to common questions about applying for financial aid, accepting awards, loan requirements, disbursements, refunds, and student account resources.

Complete the FAFSA form on the Federal Student Aid website. Choose the form for the academic year in which you will attend. For attendance between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, complete the 2026–27 FAFSA form.

Use federal school code 042808 when adding Texas Tech Health El Paso to your FAFSA.

Visit Federal Student Aid and select Create Account. Your account username and password are your FSA ID.

  2. Select MyTech – El Paso.
  3. Open Financial Aid Information, then Award Information.
  4. Select the correct aid year and open Accept Award Offer.
  5. Review the awards and submit your decision for each award. Grants are accepted automatically; accepted student loans may require entrance counseling and a Master Promissory Note.

The Financial Aid Office generally begins applying aid to student tuition and fee accounts approximately 10 days before classes begin each semester. You must be enrolled at least half-time, accept applicable aid, and complete all required documents before funds can disburse.

Loans cannot disburse until you are enrolled at least half-time, have accepted the loan, and have completed all required steps. First-time federal Direct Loan borrowers generally must complete entrance counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note. Review your outstanding requirements in WebRaider or contact the Financial Aid Office if your aid still has not disbursed.

After financial aid is applied to your account, any eligible credit balance is processed by Student Business Services. Refund timing depends on the processing schedule and delivery method. Direct deposit is generally faster than a mailed check. Review your student account and direct-deposit information in WebRaider.

Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, reports certain tuition-related information that may be used when determining eligibility for education tax benefits, including the American Opportunity Tax Credit and Lifetime Learning Credit. Review the 1098-T information and access instructions. Consult a qualified tax professional or the IRS for tax advice.

Private education loans may help cover remaining education costs after you review scholarships, grants, federal loans, and other aid. Terms, interest rates, borrower protections, and eligibility requirements vary by lender. Use ELMSelect to compare private loan products. Texas residents may also review state loan programs through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Texas Tech Health El Paso does not endorse a particular lender.

Students who withdraw from Texas Tech Health El Paso may qualify for a partial tuition and fee refund based on the official withdrawal date and applicable refund schedule. Review the Student Financial Information on Student Business Services’ website. Financial aid recipients should also contact the Financial Aid Office because withdrawing may reduce or cancel aid.

Your eligibility depends on your cost of attendance, Student Aid Index from the FAFSA, other financial assistance, enrollment, program, and the annual and aggregate limits for each loan program. Complete the FAFSA so the Financial Aid Office can determine your eligibility and prepare an aid offer.

Log in to the WebRaider portal, open Financial Aid Information, select Award Information for the correct aid year, and use the comment area under Accept Award Offer to request a change. You may also email elp.financialaid@ttep.edu.

Log in to the WebRaider portal, open Financial Aid Information, select Award Information for the correct aid year, and submit the cancellation request in the comment area under Accept Award Offer. Contact the Financial Aid Office promptly if the loan has already disbursed.

  4. Select My Direct Deposit and follow the prompts.

Student Business Services offers payment options that may include a payment plan or an emergency tuition loan. Emergency tuition loans are available only through the census date. Review the current payment options and contact Student Business Services or the Financial Aid Office before the payment deadline.

Contact the Financial Aid Office promptly if you want to reduce or return loan funds. The institution’s current process allows students to submit a return request through WebRaider within 14 days after disbursement. Log in to the WebRaider portal, open the applicable aid year under Award Information, and enter the amount you want to return in the comment area under Accept Award Offer. Follow any payment instructions provided after the adjustment is posted.
