2023 Residency Match Results

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Class of 2023, has had a successful match process through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP). The NRMP oversees a computerized process that links choices of graduating medical students with preferences of residency program directors. Results were announced on Match Day, March 17, 2023.

Eighty-seven members of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, including one student from the Class of 2022, were successful in the residency match. This year's residency match outcomes for the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine are outstanding. Year after year, FSOM students are selected into highly competitive specialties and great programs nationwide.

While the national impact is impressive, we are especially pleased that over 61% of our graduates are matched in Texas, approximately 50% of the students will enter primary care specialties, and 14 will continue their medical training in El Paso. We couldn't be more proud of this graduating class and wish them continued success and happiness. At the same time, we should acknowledge that these students trained during COVID-19 and their resilience while learning medicine is commendable and will serve them and their patients well. We honor each of our graduates today!
