Resident Research Overview

Residents complete a scholarly research project with support from OB-GYN research faculty and staff. This page outlines yearly milestones, research topics, available support, and helpful resources.

Research Milestones

Each resident develops a scholarly project during training, beginning with topic selection and ending with presentation and manuscript submission.

Resident research milestones by postgraduate year
PGY Level Milestone
PGY-1 Complete required human subjects training, identify a research topic, and present a research proposal to the department in May.
PGY-2 Obtain IRB approval and begin data collection and analysis.
PGY-3 Complete the study and present results to the department in May.
PGY-4 Submit a manuscript. Top abstracts may be forwarded to TAOG for presentation in October.
