Neurology Residency Program Application Process

Application Submission
How do I apply?
Submit all required documents through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Required documents include:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation (one from a program director is preferred)
- Dean’s letter
- USMLE Steps 1, 2 (CK and CS), and Step 3 scores
- Medical school transcripts
- ECFMG certificate (for international medical graduates)
- Medical diploma (for international medical graduates)

- Positions Available: Four (4) residency positions per year
- Preliminary Year Required: No; all four years are completed on our campus
Timeline
- Application Deadline: December 1
- Interview Period: Mid-October through mid-January
- Interview Format for 2023–2024: Virtual
Eligibility Criteria
- J1 Visa Sponsorship: Yes, Texas Tech Health El Paso sponsors J1 visas only
- International Medical Graduates (IMGs): Accepted, with a valid ECFMG certificate and medical diploma required
- Medical School Graduation Cut-Off: Must be within the last five years
- Spanish Proficiency: Not required; bilingual staff and certified medical translators are available
- USMLE Step 3 Requirement:
- Not required at the time of application
- Must be passed by November of PGY-2 year to receive PGY-3 contract
Application Considerations
- USMLE Step Failures:
- Applicants with up to two attempts are considered
- Applicants with more than two attempts on any USMLE Step are discouraged from applying
- USMLE Step 2 CS Completion:
- Not required at the time of application
- Must be completed before the ranking deadline
