Application Process

The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program at Texas Tech Health El Paso participates in the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for fellowship recruitment.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited 5-year General Surgery Residency by August 2027, or currently in progress.
  • Candidates must be eligible to sit for the Surgical Critical Care board examination.
  • Candidates must be eligible for a Texas Medical Board (TMB) license.

 

Appointment Year 2027

  • SAFAS Opens: March 2, 2026
  • Application Deadline: July 31, 2026
  • Post-Match Applications: SAFAS remains open for applicants seeking unfilled fellowship positions after the Match.

2027 Match Season Timeline

  • Match Season Begins: June 2026
  • Interview Period: Tuesdays, June through August
  • Interview Scheduling: Opens in mid-to-late May
  • Match Information: Registration, rank order lists, and Match dates are available through the NRMP.
