Program Aims

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to excellence in psychiatric education and community impact. Our program aligns with the aims of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) to address healthcare disparities and promote health equity in the El Paso Del Norte region.

Key Objectives

1. Social Determinants of Health
   Equip residents with the knowledge and tools to address social determinants of health, fostering positive changes in the well-being of our diverse community.

2. Community-Integrated Training
   Provide hands-on experience in community-based settings, focusing on psychiatry's role at the intersection of medical, biological, and psychosocial factors.

3. Board-Certification Readiness
   Prepare graduates to achieve board certification in general psychiatry, ensuring readiness for immediate clinical practice in our region.

4. Career Pathways
   Support residents in pursuing subspecialty training or careers in academic medicine, empowering them to become leaders in their field.
