Application Process

All application materials must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) system ONLY. Applications received through any other method will not be considered.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following through ERAS:
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Recent professional photograph
  • Dean's Letter (MSPE) from the medical school of graduation
  • Official medical school transcript
  • Copy of the official medical school diploma
  • USMLE or COMLEX examination scores
  • Three (3) current letters of recommendation from physicians with whom the applicant has worked during training
    • At least one letter must be from a currently board-certified Family Medicine physician who is thoroughly familiar with the applicant's clinical work.
  • Personal statement describing:
    • Your interest in a newly accredited residency program
    • Your commitment to Family Medicine
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for a Texas Physician-in-Training (PIT) Permit to practice medicine.

International Medical Graduates

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must be eligible for a Texas Physician-in-Training (PIT) Permit. While the current application page does not explicitly list an ECFMG certificate requirement by Rank Day, applicants requiring ECFMG certification should ensure they meet all Texas Medical Board and residency eligibility requirements before appointment.
