The Gastroenterology division of the Department of Internal Medicine is committed to providing excellence in clinical care, education and research. Our faculty are focused on delivering outstanding patient care with compassion and teaching a strong basic foundation in the medical sciences combined with extensive clinical training in patient care. Our team of faculty researchers also advance cutting-edge basic and clinical research in all areas of gastroenterology.

The division of Gastroenterology is part of the department of internal medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Campus Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, and the University Medical Center (UMC) of El Paso. Our fellowship-trained, board certified physicians specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas (gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition).

Research
The division of gastroenterology participates in research that includes patient-oriented clinical trials in the areas of hepatitis C, GI cancer treatment and prevention, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopic ultrasound, and pancreatic cystic neoplasms.
